Photography
I take a lot of photos for my work. I’ll take a scene that catches my eye from lots of different angles, then take them back to the studio and it helps me to rearrange the composition the way I want it to be seen.

Ink
My printing technique leaves very little waste. I use water-based non toxic inks and the lovely thing is, more and more environmentally friendly products are being produced all the time. So I try to keep up with new developments. I have little paper waste as I only use what I need. Really, all I throw away is the used masking tape.
Colour

and Planning

I spend a lot of time choosing colours, mixing just the right colour of the ink
(when you only have 3 in a print you need to choose carefully),
and planning my layers and composition.

I paint my designs directly onto the screen…

then fill the screen with screen block.
Wash away the blue and my design is ready to print

I print each colour layer one at a time.
Each print is a joy.

Choosing colours,
problem solving,
being able to draw and paint
as part of the process
And sharing it with others.
